I paint in a realist manner to capture a feeling and sense of place. I like to put on canvas my observations, my feelings, my impression about a location, a period of time, maybe an object, be it a house, or a tree, or a river, or a cloud. Usually the beauty or tranquility of a place will inspire me to create a painting in order to preserve it so that other people can experience it.

  As for the technique that I use, I want to play with the light and shadow, the color and the composition in order to create a visually stimulating painting that connects with the viewer at an emotional level. I want the viewer of my paintings to get pleasure from them. Maybe it will trigger a thought or a feeling that they have seen such a place or maybe it shows them something that they have not yet seen in person. So much of art is about allowing our imagination to take us on journeys that we may never do physically.

 Even though there are many great paintings that stir our emotions and confront our senses, I am drawn to the paintings that represent a more serene subject, those that provide comfort yet may intrigue us. Richness of color, subtlety of light, strength in composition and technique; are all attributes of a complete and captivating painting for me. I strive to produce such paintings as an artist and to give enjoyment to viewers of my work.
